Bike bits Auction night Friday 18th November 7:00PM start
« on: November 11, 2016, 03:12:17 PM »
This is a copy post from last year's auction but pretty much the same thing this year, apart from the date!
We will sell anything from part worn tyres to full bikes, if you want to get rid of it this is your chance.

This is the event you have all waited all year for.
A chance to recycle your unwanted cycle bits and buy the stuff you really want at (hopefully) bargain prices. It is also a chance for the Club to make a 10% commission to add to club funds !
If you have stuff to sell which is bike related, including books, CD's, clothing (where are those red shorts ?), wheels, whole bikes, children's bikes, new stuff that you have never fitted, unwanted presents, photos and prints, posters etc. bring them along at 7.00 pm and list them for Auctioneer and club captain Andy Harris to put to the floor in an attempt to get some competitive bidding going.
Fix a reserve if you want
Give him a description of your items
Hope !
If you think you may want to purchase, viewing will start at 7.30pm and the Auction will start at 8.00pm
You will need a bidders card
Remember, once the auctioneers gavel has fallen you are committed to buy and the vendor is committed to sell.
It's exciting and pretty fast !

Get digging in the garage now and polish up your bits !
See you on the 18th

Tim

Thanks Andy.
Under a bit of pressure at the moment so your post is very helpful
Yes folks, it's on again. If you were not at the Club Dinner last week you have only this weekend to dig around for stuff to put in the auction.
Invite your friends who may not be club members, family or other cyclists, particularly if they are building a bike or refurbishing . It's amazing what turns up. The more potential buyers the better off will the Club Funds will be and the more dosh will go to those selling.
It's a laugh ! See if you can trick someone in to paying too much ! It's risky though, you could end up with the item yourself.
We do hope to have the support of all club members, the more who come the better whether bidding or not.
Expect to finish about 9.30pm unless we have a lot of Lots. Let's hope so !
Shall I bring one of my stable of 9 bikes. Perhaps not, I need them all !

Any questions about what to bring or the format ?
Andy will be at Brackla for the Sunday Club Run tomorrow and will be promoting next Friday
Speak to other clubs or riders at the café stop and let them know it is on and that they will be very welcome to come.
I will speak to Ride Bike Wales in Llantrisant today. Last year they sent along old and returned stock and some other interesting bits like bike stands etc.
Clothing seems to be very popular and also very cheap so it is a good time to pick up kit for winter riding or on the Turbo where no one will see the miss_match !

I don't think that I will be able to make this years auction, hopefully it will be a good turn out and make sure Harpo has got some money if he's bidding this year ;)

Thanks to all sellers, buyers and helpers for making it another successful bike bits auction.

£40.75 made for club 'coffers' and £21.60 for Children in Need thanks to Mal's generous donation.

Excellent evening, a much higher standard of goods for auction apart from Noah's bike and trainer. When is Mal's shop opening? I must put more money in my pocket for next years auction. Hayden's method of bidding on his own goods is quite unique, must be a "Pacers" thing,  or the delayed effect of drinking Mc D's coffee on club runs. Andy needs to watch "Chasing Classic Cars" to sharpen up his "Spiel" and even bid spotters in the crowd would help him. Time for a lie down, a good night had by all.

Many thanks Andy. A great night again with many surprises and a lot of laughs.
Thanks especially to Craig and Mark who brought some quality stuff again, some of which I managed to get. All I need now is some garage time to play with it for next season.

Don't forget folks. We have an auction every year so don,t bin the bits you take off the bike when you repair/upgrade. As Keith demonstrated you can even get £1.00 for rust. I hope that Mary and Alan have now painted it a suitable colour to grace their front garden _ mounted on that quality Turbo. I am sure they would welcome any ideas about the colour/design/location if Alan has not already taken executive action

Great event

Tim
