Any tips on recovery between events close together?
«

This weekend I have entered a '25' in North Nottinghamshire ( going for ride number 98) with a 1730 start. I then have to drive home and the following morning I'm down to ride the Bynea 50 with a start time around 0900. Any hints and tips on recovery so I can try to be on the start line on the Sunday in a reasonable state?

That's pushing it!
Hydration, nutrition and rest.
Protein shake after the event, replace fluids, carbohydrate rich meal (not too late) and an early night.
and I'll try to find a link to an article on training peaks

Thorough warm down after the first and warm up before the second?
I've found that resisting the urge to save your legs works and no matter how tired you think you might be a good long warm up gets things going again after a hard day the day before.

Agree with a thorough warm down but I'd be doing my warm up in the first few miles of a 50.

I agree the warmdown is important too. I would also suggest try and cool your muscles after 1st event if possible (cold bath) and ibruprofen soon after too. My main suggestion would be not to bother with the 50 and focus on the first event. Take your time driving back on Saturday evening, have a lie in sunday and then go for a mid morning ride from your house of about 50 miles at whatever pace you feel like.

I agree about no warmup for 50 too. I think being able to maintain aero position for duration of the ride is more important and that is more likely if you haven't already spent time on the saddle immediately beforehand. The extra bit of sleep might be beneficial in your circumstances also.
