Club Runs / Supply chain issues hit South Wales cycling community
« on: January 25, 2026, 02:59:12 PM »
Despite the previous reassurances from Big Pharma that supplies of man up pills would return to normal, issues within the ordinarily highly efficient supply chain prevented shops across South Wales from restocking this vital cycling supplement. A spokesperson for Big Pharma stated that "despite production capacity being increased in the preceding days, logistical partners had decided to prioritise the delivery of more profitable lines such as garage heaters and soft padded seats, at the expense of essential commodities such as man up pills"
Undaunted by the disappointment of Big Pharma's ability to build sufficient resilience into its transportation processes, 4 riders made it to  Brackla, for the final 9.30 start of the winter. Having dug deep into our wardrobes to find some big boy pants 3 Dicks - Bowmer, Davies and Lewis turned up accompanied by Mark R for a 45 mile trundle out to the airport and back, for a ride in conditions that whilst seemingly treacherous to your timid Sunday morning Zwifter / Rouvy Rider were water off a ducks back for the boys in big boy pants.
A coffee stop at Cafe Velo was a step too far for Richard D, whose pants had split at the back, necessitating a swifter ride home. Cafe Velo also provided evidence that the scarcity of man up pills was having an effect in the suburbs of Llantwit Major - for it was there that we found 2 hapless members of the cycling community stuck down by the unavailability of man up pills - Mark Pope and Roy Richards. Such was their dependency on the essential pills that they had travelled in civilian clothing to Cafe Velo, in the ultimately fruitless hope of finding some pills. Indeed the frustrated Roy started smashing Cafe Velo crockery, forcing him into an embarrassing situation of having to purchase a second coffee for him and Mark as a way of apology.
Next week we revert to the usual time of 9.00 am where any garage grunting, screen watching, watt munching, rain phobic, can't let my bike get dirty Zwifters/Rouveyers/ Peleton are more than welcome to come and join us all in the land of eternal internal sunshine 🌞

Club Runs / Chasers Pacers Go to Abercynon
« on: March 16, 2025, 08:18:18 PM »
A big turnout today for the Ogmore Ageing Massive for the ride up to Abercynon.
Andy, Tim, Karl, Carl, Scott, Mark J, Mark R, Nigel, Reece, Paul and myself were out for the 53 miles of the route. A round about ride taking in the sights of Coity, Brynna,Creigeau, Taffs Wells before heading up the valley and turning at Abercynon. Coming back down the valley things got slightly faster and we took the opportunity of a Bradley's coffee in Pontypridd.
Big turns on the front from MarkR, Nige and Reece ensuring the average speed crept up.
Scheduled stops today just 1
Unscheduled pee stops - 3 proving that the Ogmore Ageing Massive are still ageing 😁

Club Runs / Should have gone tubeless!!!!
« on: February 16, 2025, 04:34:05 PM »
Can I just start this post by apologising to Nigel, Andy, Scott, Karl, Carl, Paul, Mark J and Mark R for the late start to this morning's ride - all I can say in my defence is "Should have gone tubeless"  ;D

So 9 out today on a bitterly cold day - another unscripted ride but a regular route through Llanharan, Groes -faen, St Fagans, Dinas Powys, Penarth and a coffee in Romily Gardens in Barry. Things hotted up despite the temperature staying below 4 degrees on the way back, as aided by a tail wind we went around the airport and back through Rhoose.

Good to see Carl back on the road and showing that those pre 6 am Wattbike rides are paying dividends. Some strong turns on the front today particularly from Mark J, proving that last weeks turn on the front wasn't a once in a lifetime aberration.

Happy as I was to be dropped this morning just after Wick, I was surprised to see Karl ignoring the Chasers motto of "Never let someone suffer alone off the back - make sure they suffer just off the bunch".

Three turned off for a few further miles around Southerndown whilst Scott and myself headed through Death Valley.

Good to get out today and once again my apologies for the 30 minute delay in setting out.

Should have gone tubeless!
