Good group ride today in good conditions, although the sun failed to make an appearance, and just a light easterly breeze. Good turnout for the chasers ride with nine of us riding out from Brackla, me, Richard L, Richard D, Carl, Karl, Chris, Paul, Mark and Scott. Kept together as a group with long turns on the front from Chris keeping the speed well managed and ably assisted by Karl, Paul, Rich L and Rich D. 17.6mph average for me today which was just what was needed. Good coffee stop as planned in Romilly where we did well to get the nine of us around a table for four. Good pace home too with the group reducing in number as individuals peeled off. Just the one incident to report when we were almost home with Karl clipping Rich L's wheel and coming off and needing some mechanical assistance from Rich D to see him home.
Thanks all, I'm not around now for the next two Sundays, Mallorca calls, and will start posting rides again on my return.

Club Runs / Original Chasers Group Ride 12 October 2025
« on: October 10, 2025, 06:47:42 PM »
Hi All
Chasers ride for Sunday to be ridden as a chasers group and not as a mixed pacers/chasers ride, so at chasers pace.

And to be ridden as a group, so ride as a group out and back, and at pace of the slowest and no one to be dropped. No surging when getting to the front. And if you are on the front, make sure the group are on your wheel when riding away from junctions and through roundabouts.

Here's the route, out through Llanharan and Miskin to St Fagans and Lower Penarth and back through Barry and round the airport and along the coast.
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/250060432

Just under 60 miles, relatively flat, with coffee stop in Romilly. Weather looking good, bright with just a light easterly to help us home.

9am prompt start.

OVW TEAM STORE
The OVW Pactimo Store is now open from today Tuesday 27 May through to close on Saturday 31 May, I may ask for this to be extended by a day or two. The store again includes the Ascent short sleeve jersey in the caffeinated colours, plus the Divide gilet and the Alpine Thermal LS jersey. Once the Store is closed the order will be processed for delivery within 4/5 weeks. Estimated date of delivery is around start of July 2025.

Please note that for any competitive cycling you must be wearing the standard club colours and not the caffeinated colours.

Please use the following link to access the store;

https://teamstore.pactimo.com/stores/

You will be prompted to enter a password, the password is "ogmore". You will then be able to see the items in the store to select, being the custom items

Plus a number of non-custom Pactimo products, base layers and light weight rain coats.

All prices are now inclusive of VAT but exclude the handling and delivery fee of 2%. For new customers, once you have selected your items and gone to the basket to pay you will be prompted to create an account.

If you are using a visa debit you should inform your bank first as otherwise the purchase transaction will be blocked by your bank.  Pactimo are a US-based clothing company and banks will initially block visa debit transactions.  When banks are informed prior to placing the order the transactions will be processed without any problem. Visa and Master Card are accepted but not American Express. ENTERED ORDERS CANNOT BE CANCELLED, if a wrong size is entered we can alter it BEFORE we close the team store but not after the store has been closed. ALL ITEMS ARE NON-RETURN.

We will not be purchasing items for stock as we are already holding stock. We have short sleeve jerseys and bib shorts in stock sizes M to XL. So if you want to purchase these items can you please check to see what we already have in stock.

Please be aware that there have been changes with regard to the sizing of the custom range. This will relate to larger sizes and just to upper wear, see attached document on this and link to sizing guide, https://www.pactimo-custom.com/pages/custom-cycling-clothing-size-chart. And note for all Lady members all of the kit is available in womens' fit and sizing.

From Pactimo on the Sizing
For the last 2 years the Product Development team have been working on a regrading project which simply is the jumps in between sizes which dictates how the garment grows or reduces as you go up or down sizes. Our industry peers were analysed and it was determined we needed to adjust our grade in order to accommodate industry standards for Men’s XL-3XL and Women’s L-3XL. All other sizing before this is not impacted.
The new size chart will be available and the next time you require your online store to be opened we will remind you of the regrading of garments and ask those customers who fall in those sizes to re-check their sizing against our size chart tables to confirm their updated size. It’s likely many of these riders have felt the need to size up in Pactimo, this grade change will allow them to wear their preferred size. This only applies to tops and jackets.

If you encounter any problems just let me know and I will look to get them resolved with our account manager.

Thanks
Richard

Great conditions for cycling on Sunday and a good turn out too, with 11 out from the start. Another mixed group ride of pacers and chasers with agreement at the start to extend the ride to Ystradgynlais in search of a suitable coffee stop, albeit there was some discussion as to whether the route was clockwise or anti-clockwise from Neath. The mixed group did lead to some splits in the peloton during the course of the ride. Out on Sunday were me, Richard L, Richard D, Paul, Reece, Nigel, Rob, Karl, Ross, Carl and Tim. Brisk ride out to Neath and up the Neath Valley and the climb from Glynneath to Abercraf, stunning views of Bannau Brycheiniog from the top of the climb. The coffee stop was in the Loaf which is a lovely cafe but very popular and busy which did lead to a lengthy stop. And then the climb out of Ystradgynlais back over to the Neath Valley and home, brisk from the go. I eventually rode in from Briton Ferry with Rich L and Tim.

I'm not around next Sunday so someone else will have to post a ride for next week.

I can’t see that there any cafés in Seven Sisters or Crynant. We could go on to Ystradgynlais for the coffee stop?

Up the Neath Valley on the Old Neath Valley Road to Glynneath and loop up to Onllwyn and down to Seven Sisters and Crynant and back to Neath. 70 miles in total. Will look at potential coffee stop in Seven Sisters or Crynant at 40/45 miles, any local knowledge? If not it will be Neath at 50 miles.

Hi All
Let me know if there is any interest in ordering club kit. If so I’ll arrange to have the only store opened. And a reminder too that we have short sleeve jerseys in the standard club colours and bib shorts in stock.
