My thanks to Haydn for pacing me. He certainly enabled me to get around RR1 within the 3 hour 10 mins qualification time.

Thanks for your response Richard.

I shall ride over to Physiques for the 09:00 meet up given that the jury is still out on the route.

Andy

I read Richard's comment about the option of riding with the Pacers tomorrow.  Do you intend to change to that option or sticking to the route you posted on Strava?  If you intend to stick to your Strava route then I hope to meet you on the road from Llantwit to Ewenny between 09.00 and 09.35 rather than ride over to Physiques to meet up.

Seven out yesterday:- Richard L, Karl, Lee, Chris G, Ade, Rob (new rider) & me.  Deviated from Andy's suggested route at Laleston avoiding the A48 and taking the lanes to Pylle. the usual blast along Harbour Way and then up the Dulais Valley through Crynant and onto Ystradgynlais.  We then headed down the Swansea Valley to Pontardawe, up over Rhos and down into Neath for the usual coffee stop.

Again the usual blast back along Harbour Way, onto Pylle, Cefn Cribbwr, Aberkenfig and back to Bridgend.  Strong and fast turns on the front by Chris, Richard, Karl and Rob throughout the ride with me lurking in the wheels.  Weather excellent with broken fair weather cumulus cloud cover burning back to give a fine and sunny day and although cool at the beginning of the ride it soon warmed up.  Wind SW(?) light force 1 and excellent visibility. All in a great day out.

In which direction is tomorrow's ride to be ridden, clockwise or anticlockwise?

6 out yesterday:- Tom,Paul,Ade,Steve C, Rich B and Roy2.  Usual mid-week route but with 2 minor diversions, one to Llanharry and the other through Llanmaes which I suspect incurred Tom's wrath! Duly reprimanded at Café Velo 5 of us set off on the homeward leg with Steve and Ade heading down "Death Valley" whilst Rich, Paul & I opted for the coast route. At Ewenny Rich and Paul headed for Bridgend whilst I made for LM.  Weather fine with high cloud (cirro-cumulus?)and hazy sunshine but cool.  Wind W/NW gentle(3)at first but becoming blustery and increasing to moderate(4) and fresh(5).

Mark P & I rode to the designated lamp-post at B&Q roundabout only to find the cupboard was bare. We continued on the usual mid week ride with 2 minor route changes to arrive at Cafe Velo.  All roads lead to Cafe Velo where a several riders namely Nick & Carrie plus friend, Steve C, Mal, Mark P, Mark J and me met up.  After coffee Mark P, Steve C and Mal went their separate ways leaving Mark J and me to conclude the ride in Wick and LM respectively.

A marvellous Autumn day with excellent views of the Vale especially just south of Llanharry.  Fine and sunny with a little fair weather cumulus cloud plus some higher cirrus cloud. Wind S/SW light (1). Cool between Wick and Ewenny but temperature rose as the morning wore on.

Mal, Mike & Patrick are you riding tomorrow?  If so, where is the meeting point - the designated lamp-post at B & Q roundabout or Coity Post Office? Mark P and I shall ride from LM to meet you by 09:45.

3 out this morning (Mal, Mike & Roy2), though Steve C made a brief appearance at B & Q roundabout at 09:40 before "pressing on" alone.

Today's route - Ewenny, round the coast, Wick, LM bypass, Eglwys Brewis, Llanmaes, LM (Café Velo coffee stop) Llanmaes, Sigginstone (visiting plaque to commemorate the 1953 aeroplane crash) Llanmihangel, Llanbledian, Nash Corner and Ewenny where Mal & Mike headed for Bridgend and Roy2 for LM.

Weather mostly overcast with intermittent light drizzle.  Slight break in the cloud at around 11:40 with the sun making an all too brief appearance.  No wind at beginning of ride with a light SW/W one (force 1) developing later.

Difficult to get used to the type of weather conditions prevailing today after the sunshine of the last 2 - 3 months.  A good ride all the same with a change of scene.

Club Runs / Chaser's ride 17 June 2018

Only 3 out this morning, Hannah, Patrick and Roy2. Outward to St Fagans for coffee and cake via Coychurch, Llanharan, Pontyclun and Groesfaen. Skies overcast with occasional drizzle heading east but continuous drizzle on westward return. Back via Peterston-super-Ely, Welsh St Donats, Llansannor and Treos. Fortunately, SW wind had decreased from gentle(3) en route to St Fagans to light (1) on return journey.

Also fortunate was the lack of farmyard detritus in the lanes near Llansannor! A short and damp ride but nonetheless an enjoyable one.

My thanks to Rich without whose help and spare inner tube would have seen me up that well known creek without a paddle! It would be remiss of me not to mention "in despatches" Hannah and Tony for climbing back up the Bwlch to lend support.  Thanks too to the rest of the team for waiting.
