Email from Student in Glasgow Uni - I have done a little digging and I would say this is a bona fide survey
Hi Teresa, I came across your club through British Cycling and they suggested that I say hi! My name is Agata Tomaszewska, I’m an engineering student at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, and our current assignment focuses on bicycle components and their propensity to malfunction during rides. Would you mind sharing my short survey with your club members?

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. :)
Best regards,
Agata
