The unofficial Welsh team time trial championship is the Port Talbot Whs event on June 18th. I am starting this thread now as it normally takes us a while to organise ourselves! A club our size should be fielding at least three teams of differing abilities and it's also an opportunity to get a ride on a fast course. So don't be shy. Here are a few suggestions;
Mark Rosser/ Mark Nott/ Richard Jones/ Steven Madeley
Chris Goodwin/ Steve Landeg/ Haydn Lewis/ Andy Harries
Jason Turvey/ Neil Bartlett/ Terry Anthony/ Chris Reed
Paul Longthorn/ Richard Bowmer/ Mark Pope/Tony Mansell
Any more?
-
Simon Bird, Richard Beech, Andy Samuels, Will John, Ross Sheehan ?
Anybody else not on the list, don't be shy put your name forward and have a go, the more teams we can get together the better.
Can I suggest we get commitment from people, I have already spoken to a few, then possibly use club 10s as some sort of trial (on the basis of last night I'd be instantly relegated :-[ )
Using this as a suggestion to make sure people start coming along on a Thursday night!!
Then formalise the teams in 2/3 weeks time.
-
I think I'd be up for this. Time trialling doesn't really fit in with my plans this year but happy to make up the numbers. Fits nicely between the Cardiff Velothon and the Mumbles Triathlon for me and could be good practice for the latter.
-
What course is it on?
-
All helps to gain speed!
-
Pencil me in please.
Having punctured on start line last year, I need to exercise the ghost.
Just need to get some miles in.
-
Count me in....cant wait !!!
Cheers,
Mark N.
-
...... and Andy Storrie?
-
I'll give it a crack!
-
Would love to..but off to Sicily that day
Have a good race all!
-
From experience its better to have a team riding similar bikes (tt/road); to this end i don't mind being part of a 4 up road mans team of similar ability if anyone wants to do this.
-
Good point Chris, a TT bike with a big front ring will leave a Compact rider behind on the slope. This TT will also be a good practice for the 3 up 30 TT later in the season, plus the numerous 2ups being held this year.
-
We have one team ready to enter;
Richard Beech, Steven Madeley, Mark Nott, Mark Rosser.
Use this weekend to catch up and organise some others!
-
To Steven's point above - I didn't catch up weekend gone and so not touched base with anyone regarding a 4-some. I fancy giving it a go; anyone interested?
Not entered any of these before so hopefully someone will point me in the right direction.
-
Several people have posted on here and I've spoken to a few , in order to make sure you're in a team post on here or come along this Friday club night. Steven and I will arrange some teams of similar ability, possibly name a captain to contact any people who haven't confirmed.
We can then get teams together for a bit of coaching/practice before the event.
Unless rules have changed, all 4 members of team have to submit a separate entry form and payment, listing the other team members.
I will print out a few forms and bring along on Friday
-
Cannt make Friday but would like to enter..
Where would u get an online entry form?
Will
-
Hi all, I'm up for a blast, ill be honest I'm not much of a tt rider buy ill give it my all, bit of practice and I should be fine, ill be at the club on friday so sort it out then
-
Will, click on the Cycling Time Trials logo on the club website homepage.
On the blue banner there's a link to 'forms'
-
I'm up for this. Unfortunately I won't be at the Club tonight but feel free to chuck me in with anyone. I intend riding a Compact 50 x 11 chain set, carbon road bike with clip on tri-bars and a TT helmet. I will be out for this Sunday's club run if anyone wants to chat about teaming up or doing a bit of sneaky pre-event training.
Mark

Would have loved to have made up that 4 but have a project deployment that day - so I'm out 😫
-
Based on those who committed on here or were at club last night, we now have two more teams.
Ross Sheehan, Johnathan Saunders, Clayton Evans, Neil Burns. Ross is organizing payment and sending off the forms.
Will John, Mark Pope, Haydn Lewis, Terry Anthony
Terry is paying the entry, Will and Mark please download forms and fill in team details, add me as a reserve, I may not be able to help but if no reserve is listed then definitely can't ride even if needed!
You will need to pay Terry £9 each, team entry is £36. The forms need to be sent to:- Geraint Evans 24 Ynys Street Port Talbot SA13 1YW
Entry normally closes 10-14 days before the event, so get forms sent off asap!
Chris G, nobody else said they'd definitely want to ride but still not too late to get a 'roadman's' team together, thinking Jason T, Paul Nicholas.............
-
Hi Andy, I have entered on line this morning, hoping there will be others registering late like myself to make a team up. My bike will just be an ordinary Road Bike with no TT extras! Please let me know, cheers.
-
Neil, not sure how that'll work, think you have to enter as a team. I'm not around Sunday, have a word with people, see if you can persuade them to join you.
Apologies for not putting you in one of the teams, I know you expressed an interest when I spoke to you a couple of weeks ago but I had to make the teams as best I could, with those who had confirmed by last night.
-
Thanks Andy. I've sent off form today. Terry if I don't see you before I'll settle up on night. Haydn not too fast out of the blocks please.
-
Okay Will, no probs. I have the forms for Haydn & myself; will see Mark P tomorrow and tie it up.
Cheers
-
Need one more body to make up a 'non-aero' 4up.
Neil Bartlett has put in an entry and Tony and T/S Steve will join him, just one more needed
Please reply before the weekend, in order to get application in!
-
I can ride as the fourth rider I'm doing a 10 on the Tuesday as a warm up; Be gentle as I'm feeling slightly nervous after the last time I did the 4 up;

Great Chris, we now a have fourth team
You all (except Neil, who has already entered) have to submit an entry. Click on Cycling Time Trials link on OVW home page and then select 'events'.
If you put start date 18/6/2015 PTW 4 UP TTT is the first event.
Click 'enter online' and follow the instructions.
You need to set up account if its first time using it but it's straightforward.
You need to list the team which is:- Neil Bartlet, Tony Mansell, Steve Curry, Chris Goodwin. Add me as reserve, it'll mean I'm reserve for 3 teams but hopefully not
needed by any, I could only help out a team with a late start time!
Entry is £9 per team member, do this asap as entries close next week
Neil it may be worth contacting organizer to amend your team entry, there's a link on the entry page!
-
Oops!
Tried to enter today - online closed - emailed organiser who said only one of our very short lived 'team' entered on time and he's way oversubscribed anyway - sorry Andy + 1, it looks like it's a 2-up for you!
-
Not to worry, you need at least 3 so assume Neil will get a refund!
-
Thats a bit annoying as i am assuming that having entered yesterday I am the only team member and will be riding solo AGAIN!!! AAAARRRRGGHHHH!

-
Will you try and beat your time on that route Chris? ;D I recall it was a rare float day too (not that I was riding) - no wind and low pressure. Some amazing times
-
Sorry Chris, assume you and Neil will get a refund, if there's no ride!

That's not our Robin Powell riding for one of the Cardiff Tri teams is it?I saw Rob at the Manics concert a week or 2 ago and he told me he's back to normal cyclingwise-good news!
-
Where have I got go tomorrow? I no the start time
-
Rhigos rugby club CF44 9HJ
If you come down the Rhigos toward Hirwaun, turn left at roundabout then almost exactly 1 mile turn left, then its half a mile to rugby club. You'll see lots of people in cycling gear! ;D
You have to go into club and sign on and collect your race number, so allow time.
-
Good night for it tonight and for the first time in ages a full field with no DNs's ! Well done to the 'B' team for getting under the hour on their first TTT. We recorded 52:39, which was 9 seconds slower than last year but still fast enough to win £80 for the fastest Vets team. Great effort by Mark Rosser and Mark Nott (slow puncture in the last 7 miles) who towed Richard Beech and myself around...
-
...and still had enough strength to crush my hand at the end!! ;D

Always saves a bit for that :D
-
Great ride tonight with Mark R, Steven and Richard.
Had a slow puncture at the turn but thought....I`m going to keep going until either myself or the bike blows up but the tyre held and we had a great time!!!
Thanks gents...really enjoyed it, cant wait until next year???...that's 2 years on the bounce.
Can we make it a hat trick next year???
Sorry Davey....I just got excited when I saw you !!! lol.
and of course well done to Will, Mark P,Harpo and Terry for going well under the hour !!! great ride guys.
and Rob I cant wait to see you again....you know what's coming don't you ??? lol
-
Next year! Cardiff 100 milers 3up 30 mile TT August 9th this year, gotta support these odd events, one less rider per team, get those entries in now, don't be disappointed. Well done last night, just avoid the hand shake, sew pockets in your aero suit.
-
I've never seen so many photographers - anyone found any links to the event?
-
Mark Notts grip strength undiminished from my Tuesday evening handshake then....
-
Every so often I forget Nott to shake Mark's hand! Usually when I'm physically and mentally exhausted just after a TT effort!
