Title: Ambler's - Sunday 12 April
Post by: Mark Pope on April 11, 2015, 11:36:05 AM
The proposed route for Sunday is:

Brackla - Ewenny - Ogmore - St Brides - Llantwit via the Lanes - St Athan - Flemingston - Llantrithydd - Welsh St Donuts - Miskin - Talbot Green - Llantrisant Forest - Gilfach Goch - Blackmill - Llangeinor - Bryncethin - Coity - Brackla.

It's a shade over 50 miles and should make use of a fresh wind for a large part of the route. There are a few jumping off points for those wanting to watch Geraint Thomas tow Bradley Wiggins to victory live at Paris-Roubaix. Coffee options are at Llantrisant Forest or Blackmill, or we can just push on through.

See you there.

Big mistake today talking and not listening to Andy At 9 o clock . Joined the pacers by mistake so at black mill decided to go over bwlch and down Afan valley . Very windy at the top and headwind made it tough going . Note to self listen don't talk at the. Start!!

There was a great turn-out this morning with 15 Amblers heading out from Brackla for a jaunt around the coast before heading North for the climbs over Llantrisant Forest, Gilfach Goch and Llangeinor. We were joined by the two Keith's on the tandem who made us all work on the flatter stages and surprised a few of us on the hills with their gritty climbing. The total distance for the main group was 48 miles as we took an interesting short cut (deliberate) off the top of Llangeinor, which shaved a couple of miles off the planned route. We made good use of the wind and were mostly helped by the fresh breeze for the majority of the ride. The following Oggies were out for today's ride:

Paul Longthorn
Mike Longthorn
Wayne E
Tom
Chris Reed
Lee
Tony M
Tony J
Neil
Keith x 2
Richard B
Mark P
Jonathan
Terry

All in all a good day out enhanced by South Wales cheapest tea and cake in Blackmill!
