Indeed. And wouldn't expect anything less from a proper racer, in what remember is not a race! Most of the people that ride sportives and call it racing wouldn't know what had hit them if they rode a road race.

Thanks guys. Really getting into Sportives at the moment for a variety of reasons. I don't really put a lot of stock into 'winning' these things - as Rob points out they're not really meant to be races. However at the 'sharp end' of a big Sportive they can get a bit tasty so they do keep the competitive juices flowing.
