Title: Club Run Thursday 19th Sept Tour of Britain stage
Post by: Andy H on September 15, 2013, 08:09:59 PM
Club run out to Caerphilly Mountain to watch Stage 5 of the Tour of Britain.

Due to finish in Caerphilly between 3 and 4 o'clock. Last year we did a hilly route which got us to Caerphilly in time to climb the mountain,

descend into Caerphilly for lunch and climb back up, in plenty of time to watch the race.

Weather not looking great, hopefully it will improve by Thursday, if you fancy a ride out post here!

I'll go straight to the mountain ( in OVW kit) - can we agree where we are going to stand so we can set up 'Camp Oggie'?

Not sure what to do tomorrow! If the weather is bad I was thinking just to cycle straight to Caerphilly around lunchtime then come straight back. Anyone else thinking of going?

From experience (rob p will back me up here...remember those dog blankets?) - given wind and rain, either watch or ride! You only have to be waiting around on top of a hill in your cycling gear in wind and rain for a few minutes before cold and misery sets in...and then you have to ride down the hill and home too. If I could get time off work I would probably drive and walk up the hill (wearing lots of warm and waterproof stuff). That said Mark E will no doubt be fine whatever he wears (or doesn't).

Despite booking day off work just for a ride out to watch the race, now find my day being filled with odd jobs and errands.

Will be riding straight to Caerphilly mountain and hopefully get some riding in after (depending on weather)

How about meeting near the top, cafe side between final bend and top plateau. i.e. where we were last year   ;D

See you tomorrow 1.30 - 2.0ish

Very wet on the way up but soon dried out. Another good afternoon watching the pro's and we got on the tele again.
