Short warm up for anyone off to Majorca the next day. Sa Calobra practice up the Bwlch, freewheel to Remo's at Aberafon, spin home via Porthcawl.

Hope it's ok if I take along? Hope to join the club now. I don't mind dropping myself if I'm holding you guys up though up the bwlch...

Ben, you'll be very welcome. Long climbs are generally ridden at the individual's pace, and we regroup at the top (or at the bottom if it's freezing cold at the top).

Can’t make it unfortunately, I’ve got a sportive over in Somerset 👍🏻

Sunny morning and a good turnout. Joining me were Mark, Nige, and Paul getting in their last few pre-Majorca miles. Plus new pacer Ben (not that one, an even newer one). And guest-pacer Karl, bored of lethargic Chaser rides.
The lane from Brynmenyn up to the Llangeinor Arms was a chance for a pre-Bwlch warm up on what was a chilly start, with Mark opting for an extra mile and some additional climbing by doing a passable Chaser impression and avoiding the steep bit. Karl putting him to shame by powering up the route, as advertised.
Steady ride up the Bwlch, with Paul, Karl and Mark being especially careful not to update their Strava records, before an equally steady descent, which as usual was still much faster than I am capable of. Paul and Mark peeled off at Cymer happy they had done enough to prime themselves for the much anticipated round the island race on Wednesday.
Nige, Karl, even newer Pacer Ben, and I then freewheeled down Aberafon for what I am assured was particularly expensive coffee and cake (thanks even new Pacer Ben for mine). From there a short spin home in plenty of time to watch Tom Pidcock winning Amstel Gold.
I’m away next Sunday (not in Majorca), and almost everyone else is on holiday. If you are stuck in Bridgend please post your intentions / aspirations on the forum.
