Title: Chasers 11 June
Post by: RichardB on June 07, 2023, 08:02:55 PM
Weather looking ok for Sunday, overcast in the morning but clearing up middle of the day, and jus a light SW breeze.

Out to Penarth via Miskin, Groesfaen, St Fagans, Dinas Powys on the way out, and back through Barry and Rhoose and the coast on the way home. It will probably be around 65 miles with coffee stop on Penarth seafront/ Romilly Gardens / Porthkerry.

I'm having problems with Garmin Connect this evening so will post the exact route in the next day or so.

See you all Sunday

and here is the route;

63.5 miles, so I suggest coffee stop in Romilly after about 35 miles.

Apologies for the tardiness of my reporting of Sunday's club ride.
Good turn out Sunday morning, mix of pacers and chasers, although there was no posted pacers ride. Due to the numbers we agreed to split into two groups but did spend the first part of the ride largely riding as one group. Out on Sunday were me, Rich L, Carl, Scott, Tammy, Mark R, Mark B, Steve, Paul, Vaughan and Chris and Finlay Storrie who was out with us for the first time I believe. I'd agree to "look after" Finlay but he was clearly comfortable with the pacers group and enjoyed a morning in zone 1 and 2 with the pacers and did another circuit at the end of the ride to get his 4 hours in for the day.
The split in the group had eventually come at Groesfaen leaving Mark B on the wrong side of the split and he would have worked very hard to get back on to the pacers group up the road. We finally all came back together in Romilly, the pacers about to leave as the chasers arrived, but the pacers had missed out the Penarth seafront part of the ride. It was busy in Romilly and we didn't get to sit out in front of our favoured cafe, and we had a limited choice of cake in our cafe, just fruit cake which came served with single cream. At this point Chris and Mark B joined the chasers group for the home leg.
Great conditions for riding, warm and sunny and just a little humid.
I'll post a ride again for this coming Sunday.
