Mixed club ride today in good conditions with the rain blowing through early leaving a dry morning with blue skies later. Seven of us out from the start, me, Rich L, Karl, Mark J, Mark R, Angelo and Tammy stepping up from her regular social ride. And Rob gave us a 40 minute head start and joined us in Barry. Having been pressed to post a ride yesterday the chasers grandee then held an early committee meeting and made large changes to my proposed route, largely cutting out the lanes. Good group ride out to St Fagans and onto Barry for the coffee stop in Romilly. There was flooding on the approach to Barry and queuing traffic caused some sharp braking in the peloton with Tammy skidding and hitting the deck. Fortunately she was just left with some grazing to her elbow and some minor damage to the rear derailleur, bike to the bike shop for repair this week. We left Rob in the cafe as he had joined us late but it didn’t take him long to catch us again and he then went off the front with Angelo leaving the rest of us to press for home sticking to the main road and going round the coast through Southerndown and Ogmore.
See you all next week.
