As a relative newcomer to the region I was wondering if anyone has any recollection of the R10/10 time trial course?
I've just been reviewing some videos which included the GHS final in 1984 held on R10/10; it was apparently based on Pencoed and was said to turn at Waterton Roundabout; they talked about a ski-slope start, while the start line itself was adjacent to some old stone farm buildings that might be in Ruthin.
Does anyone have any memories or experience of this course or why it fell into disuse?
Meanwhile it seems Steve Curry has signed up for the Welsh CA 25 champs on Sunday, so good luck to him for that.
Cheers all.

HI,THE R/10/10 STARTED AT TOP OF RUTHIN HILL AND FINISHED ON RIVER BRIDGE NEAR HARVESTER TURN OFF. BOARDMAN WON THE GHS CHAMPS ON IT. I THINK A SHORT 22. THURSDAY NIGHTS WAS OUR CLUB EVENTS. MYSELF [STU EVANS] CARL ROACH AND SCOTT MORGAN BROKE THE WELSH 10 M RECORD.ALL WITH 21 MINUTE TENS. IT WAS AGAIN BROKEN BY US OGGIES WITH MYSELF CARL AND DARREN THOMAS. THE COURSE WAS STOPPED WHEN THOSE PESKY TRAFFIC LIGHTS APPEARD.GREAT COURSE AND A GREAT CLUB. ;)

Hi, Stu, thanks for filling in those blanks; sounds like a useful course in those days, and within riding distance of Llantwit to the start!
Best wishes for tomorrow's WCA Champs event.
Cheers, Geoff.
