Hi all hope you had a good Christmas and didn't put on too much weight!
It was agreed at the last club meeting to arrange a gravel ride for the first Sunday of each month provided there were no organised club activities already arranged (RR rides etc).
Gravel ride Sunday is approx. 50 miles with 5000ft of climbing. Coffee stop at Glyncorrwg cycle centre cafe (if its open) after about 30 miles. Weather not looking to good so can shorten route if required!
9:30 start at Brackla. Route attached below:

Only two of us today on the gravel, Rob and myself. Should have been 3 but Steven slept late! Only joking, Steven just missed me leaving Brackla but would probably have met us in Glyncorrwg café if it was open!
We followed the planned route to Afan and then up ‘The Wall’ climb and over the top of a very misty mountain. The weather gods were being kind to us until we started our decent into Glyncorrwg, at this point the heavy rain started so we were really looking forward to cake and coffee at the cycle café……CLOSED :(
Riding into the wind and heavy rain we headed for home through Croeserw and into the forest, dropping down to Pont-y-rhyl. As Rob pointed out it was lovely and sunny in Pontycymer, apparently this is a regular occurrence, Rob mentioned something about the Pontycymer microclimate! We parted company at this point and I continued home on the cycle path and managed to get home before the rain started again.
