Title: Chasers 1 August
Post by: RichardB on July 30, 2021, 08:17:23 AM
Weather looking ok Sunday. Aberdare loop clockwise with coffee stop in Aberdare. So out on the A48 to Neath, up the Neath Valley to Hirwaun and across to Aberdare, A4059 down to Abercynon and onto Pontypridd and home.

Away doing the family thing in soggy Cornwall. Have a good one. See you next week.

7 of us out on Sunday morning this week, me, Karl, Mark, Lee, Andy, Paul, and guest Tom from south east London who was visiting fiends in Ewenny.

Largely followed the planned route with just the one detour on the stretch between Aberdare and Pontypridd. The weather was kind to us with just the one short spell of light rain early in the ride. We rode into a bit of head wind out with everyone taking a turn and were grateful to finally turn up the Neath Valley and out of the wind, and then chain ganged up to Glynneath. And it was good to have the wind on our back to help us Neath Bank and take us to Aberdare and the coffee stop in Bradleys.

Paul then sat on the front for most of the way home before peeling off in Talbot Green and leaving the rest of us to race for home. We had ridden at a good pace for all of the ride and averaged over 20mph back from Pontypridd to Bridgend with a total mileage for me of 70 miles.

Good effort everyone, see you next week.
