Provisional dates for the Reliability Rides are:-
RR1 Sunday 9th February
RR2 Sunday 16th February
RR3 Sunday 1st March
Similar dates to 2019 and gives a couple of free Sundays before Mallorca trip to fit in any cancelled rides, should we have any.

I can do the timing for the RR1 Sunday 9th February if you want to ride it Andy.
-
Thanks!

Just bumping this to remind people.
For new members or those unfamiliar with the concept there is a section explaining the Reliability Rides on the Home page, under the 'club runs' tab.
Also feel free to ask me or any other members at club night or on Sunday club runs
-
Please could you let me know where each ride finishes this year, so the website can be updated for 2020?
Thanks

Hi Teresa,
I plan to stick to the routes from previous season.
RR1 as a new cafe (Vale kitchen) has opened on the Cowbridge by-pass, where the route traditionally finishes, I suggest we give it try. It's had mixed reviews but you never know until you try it.
RR2 Ewenny Cafe
RR3 Costa Cowbridge
Thanks
Andy

Please note there will be an extra 4 hour option on the RR1 and RR2 rides. Starting at 8.00am
This will require an average speed of 12.5mph so will open up the possibility for less speedy riders to 'compete' for Reliability Ride certificates.
This is the one club ride where we have the chance of all meeting for a coffee and a chat (at the end of the ride) so the more people that can make it, the better.
Please make an effort and join in!

What are people's plans for RR1?
As I've been off the bike for 2 whole weeks, I'll be taking the 'comfortable' option of 3 1/2 hours.
8:30 start for me.
It will help people decide what time to start if you post your intentions.
Weather forecast looking a bit 'iffy', I will keep an eye and update later in the week
-
While not looking quite as 'menacing' as Ciara, storm Dennis looks as if it will hit South Wales on the weekend and being on a bike, on the Bwlch doesn't look like a good idea for Sunday.
Will keep an eye on the weather forecast and post before the weekend, if need to postpone RR2
-
Storm forecast still stands for Sunday so postponing RR2 until Sunday 8th March. The week after RR3
-
due to not running the RR2
we can now hopefully run each one in the correct order dates below
Reliability Ride 1 - Sunday 23rd February - Start at Physiques, Brackla - End Vale Kitchen
Reliability Ride 2 - Sunday 1st March - Start at Physiques, Brackla - End Costa, Cowbridge
Reliability Ride 3 - Sunday 8th March - Start at Physiques, Brackla - End Ewenny Cafe
-
RR1 is this Sunday 23rd February.
Weather forecast is not brilliant but much better than the last two weekends and no 'weather warnings' in place.
Please sign on, at least 15 minutes before your planned start time.
I'll be doing the 3 1/2 hour option.
-
BBC weather website does have a warning for strong winds and rain.
-
Forecast has certainly taken a turn for the worse. Will take s look tomorrow and review decision.
-
Sorry the strong winds and rain forecast for the morning and the weather warning means we will have to postpone RR1,......again!
I think the best option is to move RR1 to next Sunday, RR2 the following week and revise the date for RR3 some time after Mallorca trip.
Any thought?
-
Hi All. Originally I was asked to time the Reliability Ride (RR3) on Sunday 1st March. Am I still required for the event (RR1) being run on this Sunday at 08.00 hrs.?
Norman.
-
Hi Norman,
Yes please!
I was going to discuss this with you on Friday.
As the RR1 is the John Edwards Memorial ride I didn't want to keep pushing it back in the calendar, (any more than we had to) so thought it best to keep the rides in chronological order.
The RR1 finish is at the cafe at the top of the Cowbridge bypass, the start as normal in Brackla. Hope this this is OK and thanks again for being available.
See you Friday
Andy

Looks like we will be welcoming storm Jorge this weekend. Worst of the weather is forecast for Saturday, at the moment with Sunday being wet but at least less windy. So it will be MISERABLE rather than dangerous and at the moment I think we can go ahead with RR1. I will discuss with others at club night, keep an eye on the forecast and post tomorrow with final decision

All,
Coast road at LLantwitt Major closed due to flooding. I spoke with Norman and on safety grounds decided to postpone the RR1 due to the flooding. Trying to get home from Aberthaw today the coast road is closed by police as flooded just before the roundabout at the TT route turn around point. The lanes to llandow are bad and breaking up a bit, The river Ewenny has burst its banks in Pencoed and lots of roads closed.

Sensible move as it's not like its a national event!
