Title: Amblers Ride 28th July
Post by: Ben on July 25, 2019, 03:20:51 PM
I will be out Sunday. Little cooler too but with a westerly wind. So we'll head out towards Port Talbot direction. But that's about as far as I have thought about route wise so far.

Is that a request Nick? I can accommodate that if everyone else is happy with it.

Seven of us started out from Brackla. Ben, NickR, Daz, Chris, Jonathan, Hannah and me. Destination : Porthcawl via the Bwlch. After a 5k swim earlier that morning the Bwlch was not in the training plan, so Hannah headed home early doors. The six of us carried on over Llangeinor and through Ogmore Vale. Good pace up to the viewpoint. Quick stop for a picture and for Chris to share his snack with a sheep clearly addicted to energy gels.
Continued on to the summit, passing the Pacers coming the other way and down the other side for coffee (and ice cream) at Afan Argoed. Time was running short for most so decided to sack off Porthcawl. All except Nick who was determined to make the most of being out of the house, and more ice cream. We split at the Wiggleys junction. Chris and Daz heading for fountains lane, The rest looking to make the most of the wind on the A48. I still had more climbing in me so blasted up Kenfig Hill.

Really good effort from everyone and a decent pace.

If you need gift ideas for Ben, a bidon. That bottle of evian just didn't look right in the cage.

Hopefully see you all next week. Could be Mal's charity ride around the vale.

Thanks Ade,
I was getting round to posting the report :) I'm a bit slow. The Evian bottle went down well I thought. It got replaced by a bottle of Smart water at Ewenny
