My Garmin Connect software has been getting more problematic over the past few weeks. I have gone from normal operation to having to manually upload to it now not recognising the file and looking for a programme to open it. I have reloaded the connect software and emailed their tech support ( 3 day turnaround for emails - now on day 7!). I can still upload manually to Strava.
Any suggestions?

I had the same problem with mine to the point where finaly my computer did not recognise the Garmin. Having googled the problem, I ended up doing, a manufacturers setting restore to my Garmin which finally got it working, and then not allowed it to update the software. Touch wood since then it has been working ok

Same problem Steven. Mine uploaded and downloaded fine for about a year. Then it stopped. I had months of email exchanges with customer services, re-installing all sorts of downloads and pluggins. Nothing worked and the advice was terrible. Since then I download all rides as manual files. It isn't really that different mind. It just picks up a file that you have to select rather than doing it automatically. Only problem is you cannot upload manually in the same way. So I cannot create courses and training plans and upload to my Garmin as I used to be able to. Please let me know if you find a solution. If you do master reset am I correct in thinking you lose Garmin settings but not your rides that have already been downloaded to your account?

Unfortunately you are right Rob, a real pain setting it up again!

The other day one of the computers reported a problem reading data from my Garmin 500.
I've not experienced this problem but it might be worthwhile trying;
1. Run a Check Disk on the Garmin:

2. Download, Install and run the new Garmin Express against your device and ensure it's up-to-date;

3. If the problem persists then try a different browser, perhaps Google Chrome or Firefox just to test against the upload procedure ~ Google Chrome operates differently using two different computer configurations for me.
Edit: You could always check against the plugin as well:

Worth a shot if it's causing some grief.
