Looking at riding the RR1 50miles. Weather looks better than recent weeks/days but a risk of a shower. A good route for all as it basically two circuits so anyone limited for time gives you a few peel off points.
Don't forget it's official cycling summer time so start will be 9am from now until December.

Just notice an error on the route plan I sent you. It takes a short cut just before the roundabout in Laleston where we join the A48 and again on the way back to Ewenny.
Also when I've ridden this previously we had an out and back from this roundabout to the Porthcawl roundabout, the route appears to be 50 miles without this, so I have left that off
I will re-plot the route tonight and double check, so that it is accurate on the day

We debated this a few years ago when Chris M was Club Captain-we had always traditionally ridden up to the Porthcawl roundabout but when the course was re-measured(not sure by whom)it was long enough without that extra(and slightly dangerous )bit.We turned left at the first roundabout for a few years-all except for Tim who stuck to doing things the way he's always done them and was thus half a mile off the back by Laleston!

We can alway miss out this Sunday to measure the distance of the course. Then have a look at the data whilst having a cuppa.
-
I've done the course again on garmin courses, when you click on the link, it has the corrected version.
50.39 miles without the 'roundabout loop'!

Great thank you Andy.
-
But importantly I understand the club record set by Carl Roach is on the original course, with the additional loop.

Great turn out for the three rides this morning, 22 I believe.
11 Amblers left Brackla to do a test run of the RR1.

We rode a windy RR1 course and quite challenging ride. Some peeled of before the cafe. But 6 made in there.
Great to get half century this time of year. See you all next week.

Thanks to all the amblers today for making me feel very welcome on my first ride, enjoyed the ride and hope to see you next week.

Well done today Richard. You may need your climbing legs next Sunday!
-
Good run but challenging at times. 65 miles and feeling it today.

In an Amblers field of 11, I was 11th up each hill - but I will be back for more. Thanks for waiting for me guys.
