Title: Amblers ride 12th November
Post by: Ben on November 09, 2017, 11:35:19 AM
This week I'm giving you one option because I feel rather mean and after 3 punctures this week grumpy.
You may need to be sat down now to view the route. So I'll give you chance to find a chair.

Ready?
No. Ok wait I'll wait a little longer.

Here you go. Here's the route with a coffee stop at the Old Village shop in Bonvilston which I have on good recommendation (from Nick and Carrie H) that they do nice coffee and a Bacon butty. Due to Remembrance day options maybe a little limited any way. So I've got a Vale jaunt planned. BUT shockingly for me it's LESS than 32 miles!!! Worrying I know especially as it's not overly hilly.

6 brave souls left Physiques in the cold today. Myself, Tom, Nick H, Sarah and two newbies my son Luc and Jo.
We followed the route for the most part. As we left it started spitting so a quick pause to put jackets on. We went over through Brynna while it continued spitting getting heavier in intensity. Down towards Miskin and past the golf course. From there we went up past Warren Mill and onto Duffryn gardens. Coffee stop there and observed the 2 minutes at 11. Then on our way back the heavens opened so sadly we had to cut short another ride due to the weather. Great rides from everyone. Sarah strong as always as was luc. Jo rode really well especially with a very soggy rear tyre. But we split at the old post. Nick kindly took Sarah and Jo home. Luc went back to Rhoose and Tom and myself tootled back to Llantwit. Hopefully the weather hasnt put up off. Luc is under instructions to buy some tights this week.

After we split up, there was a deluge to Cowbridge, then loads of fresh hedge trimmings between City and Graig Penllyn, so we were very lucky to get to Bridgend without a puncture or two.  Although it had brightened up by the time we got into the lanes we were still chilly. I did hear "are we nearly there yet" more than once in the last few mile, but 'well done' to the ladies for being so stoical in such adverse conditions.

Thanks Ben for the route and the company-we only went wrong once and that was when you trusted me-you should have known if there was a hill I'd go up it.Thanks to Nick too for making sure Jo and Sarah got back ok-invest in some Winter kit Sarah!

I'm glad I was on dog walking duty and guess what I didn't go out for a short spin as it was hammering down so reluctantly I went for a pint instead. Well done all that's hardcore cycling
