I'm looking to organising another visit to the Velodrome, the club will subsidise this so we would only need to pay to hire the bikes. The only date available at the moment is the 29th December 8pm - 10pm
Everyone is welcome to attend all levels of ability can be accommodated Amblers, Chasers and Pacers. We had a great time in July and started out as two groups absolute beginners and experienced riders, after the beginners got to grips with things we had a ride as one group. Great opportunity to try something new.
We need at least 10 to make the visit happen so please let me know if you're interested.

The 8-10pm slot has gone unfortunately but there is time available between 7am - 1pm does that work for everyone? We can choose a 2 hour session that suits us between these times.
-
Work day for me, I’ll have to see if I can get a half day!
Early start would be better.
-
Ok for me
-
Fine with me
2 hours ....brutal!
-
Sorry I meant to say yesterday we can choose a time between 7am - 1pm that suits everyone! Could try for a 9am? So similar start time as a club run?
-
Sounds good to me.
-
Good for me now too as it is in the day.
-
Thanks for the response so far, we need 10-15 people to show an interest before I can make a booking. If we can get to 10 by Monday I'll make the booking, if you guys are out on the Sunday club run could you ask around for me to see if anyone else is interested. I'm turbo trainer bound at the moment as we're expecting our baby to arrive in the next couple of weeks!

Thanks for the reply, Showing my ignorance here.. you don't need your own bike?
-
Hi Paul, I'm up for the trip.
-
Im still in as long as its the morning, looking forward to it
-
Paul
Can you confirm it is 0900 to 1100 on the 29th? Just so I can book some time off.
-
Chris, there are specific bikes for the indoor track.
Single fixed gear, so majority of people have to hire one there.
The fixed gear takes a little bit of getting used to, have to keep pedalling at all times!
Don’t worry though the coaches sort you out pretty quickly
-
Big thanks to everyone who's showed an interest so far!
I can confirm the booking for the 29.12.2017 9am-11am
Paul R you're welcome to join in look forward to seeing you there! If there is anyone else interested in having a go by all means just post to say you're interested you are more than welcome to come along. It's worth a visit just to check the track out and have a ride on the same boards that the British Cycling Track team use to train on. You don't really get a sense of it when it's on the telly!
The club have taken care of the track and a coach hire us. If you don't have a track bike you will need to hire one when you get there the hire costs £10.50
For those of you who have not been before the coach will be there to help you get to grips with cycling around the track and answer any questions that you have, it's a great opportunity to have an introduction to track cycling the coaches are really helpful. We will probably have 2 groups on the day one for beginners and one for those with some experience.
Any questions just ask.

-
Sorry Paul I need to pull out! My kids have been ill over Christmas so I needed to change my rota in work.

Track day this Friday! If you can be there at 8:30ish ready to ride that should give us plenty of time to hire bikes at reception and pick them up. This is the address for your satnav: Newport Sports Village, Newport, NP19 4RA. Here's a reminder of the kit you'll need for Friday:
Helmet
Gloves
Cycling shorts/leggings
Jersey/T-shirt, shoulders must be covered
You can wear your skin suit too :o
Cycling shoes with Look Keo Cleats (or Trainers if you want to use a bike with toe straps)
Water bottle (it gets warm & dry)
Food
Towel
Hopefully you can all still make it! If there are a couple of you who would like to join us it is not too late! the club has hired the track for us so all you need to do is hire a bike on the night it's a great opportunity to try you're hand at track cycling. I have told them that this is a group of mixed ability riders and for a lot of you it will be your first time so the coach will split us into groups based on that. The emphasis is on us having a safe fun session riding with club mates of the same ability. Any questions let me know PM or post it here.

Great to see everyone out for the track session on Friday. Impressed by how much everyone had remembered from six months ago and how quickly the first timers got up to speed so we could all ride as one group. Whilst the first timers were getting up to speed, we did some group riding/chain gang. After the first attempt which went quite well Gary gave us some tips, everyone took his advice on-board; the second time out felt a lot sharper than the first. By the third time out the first timers were up to speed and we went out as one big group. Tony did a classy move after taking a lap out waiting for us to come back around riding up to the blue line and dropping back in to help us complete the 36 laps. Think we were averaging around 25mph.
After that we took some laps. The group cycled around on the Cote d'azure on the whistle the rider at the front sprinted around on the black line to join the group at the back. After a couple of laps the turkey was catching up with me and I must admit I struggled towards the end! Fantastic couple of hours cycling in the dry with good company:
