I have a friend who thinks that I know something about cycling. He has asked me what is the best general lube to use. As someone who uses WD40 in the summer and 3 in 1 in the winter I need some help from the collective please!

I use the same thing all year round. White lightning wet lube. But in summer I let it soak on for a few minutes then wipe it all off again.

theres a joke in here somewhere ;D try typing that into google ???
WD40 or GT85 should not be used for lube this is a dregreaser for getting your chain clean
for the chain summer dryer conditions use dry lube but this will end up picking all the crap and get dirty in no time and will need regular cleaning and application of Lube.
Wet lube is for wetter conditions

I use Muc off dry for the summer bike and Muc off wet for the winter bike
for other parts of the bike headsets and bearings you should use grease. again this is down to preference I use Finish Line Teflon Ceramic Grease. white lightening is another good waterproof one.
then anything carbon fibre i.e seat post carbon into carbon you should use fibre grip. Finish Line Fiber Grip Carbon Fiber Assembly
there was a lube on road cc that cost something like £70 a bottle but it claimed it would coat the chain in a wax like substance and increase your watts output

The lube of choice is Rock 'n' Roll Extreme and Gold;

Wet lube most of the time on the commuter, Finish Line, Muc-Off etc.... whichever is the cheapest as it gets used in horrible conditions.
