I'm afraid that's all nonsense Teresa-the correct way to climb is to select the biggest possible gear(the one you can just turn over without coming to a halt)and stand on the pedals from the bottom to the top-this applies to all hills no matter how steep!! (I concede this method does take it's toll on chains and knees)
