Another fast paced session this morning, I've posted the ride on Strava although the speed has screwed up so only HR recorded. Garmin recorded a 2 hour session covering 37.64 miles which isn't bad considering we essentially had 3 brief coffee stops in that (3 breaks 1 between each drill), maybe something to consider for the Sunday rides, ride harder eat more cake?
Today after a fast paced warm up we did 500m sprints (as per usual) which took me 35.4 I think. No huge improvements over the previous weeks as this is the first time I heard the coach correctly, I thought he was saying 54, 55, or 56 previously but they have all been in the 30's! Apparently this is fairly good considering I'm on a hire bike and in this group the fastest rider has done a low 30 which is decent by all accounts. Although 5 seconds is an absolute age when it comes to sprinting!
Next up 64 laps 10mile group TT everyone started on the black line and fairly quickly people started to pop off the group. I started at the back which is hard work but watching the carnage unfold is entertaining. Loads of shouting when massive gaps appeared, but stuck it out till the very end. It's still a friendly bunch of riders who will give you respect for keeping up with the group if you're on a hire bike. I think the group did 64 laps in 21 or low 22 minutes, at that speed you're spinning at almost twice the cadence of the fast riders on the hire bikes, it's a real effort to do your turn on the front.
Finished off with a drill which had us sprinting in pairs switching over every half lap, everyone riding on blue, on the whistle front two riders move down to the black line doing a lap until they catch the tail end of the group, good fun that one as you are never sure of the ability of you're partner.
Track bike arrived today so I might be tempted to go on Friday to get it checked out, and maybe take it for a spin!

I bet you'll notice the difference on your own bike, sounds like a real blast!

In a weird way it's a lot more fun on days where the pace is fast and you can just about get away with holding the wheel in front!

Think I'll take the new bike to the club on Friday and try it out on the rollers to get it setup, the gear is really low 74inch so not sure how it will work out.
