The proposed dates for the reliability rides are:-
RR1 Sunday 7th February
RR2 Sunday 21st February
RR3 Sunday 6th March
RR2 & 3 are on 'rest days' of the Six Nations, RR1 is the same day as Ireland vs Wales, if you cycle quickly enough you'll be home/in the pub in plenty of time for the game!
At the moment I'm tempted to stay with the 'modified' route for RR1 that we used last year but happy to discuss.
For those new to Reliability rides there is plenty of info, including maps at the 'On Your Bike' tab on front page of website. The idea is to ride on feel, no computers or watches, to a pace of your choosing, either in a group or if you prefer solo.
If you want any more information speak to me or any of committee at club night.
Next club night is Friday 8th January

Good timing - Was just updating the website.
All info up to date, including rules and routes etc
-
Thanks!

First 'reliability ride' is this Sunday 7th February, course details and rules can be found in the 'On Your Bike' section of website.
Two options for RR1 are:-
50 miles in 3 1/2 hours (14.2mph) start at 8:30 (sign on by 8:15)
50 miles in 3 hours (16.6mph) start at 9:00 (sign on by 8:45)
Please note the route DOES NOT go down New Inn Rd to the 'dipping bridge', stay on main road to Ewenny roundabout. Also at the Llantwit Major roundabout, riders have to proceed on to the mini roundabout at Heol Pentre Cwrt on BOTH laps.
See you Sunday and hope the weather improves!

Weather looks terrible for Sunday, very strong rinds and rain. Would it make sense to postpone? :-\
-
Didn't think it looked that bad but then again I'll be sitting in Hannah's diner with a cooked breakfast and a latte! ;D

Rule 5 Tony!

Rule 5
I appreciate that you didn't quote rule 5. But the sentiment might be there :o
-
+1 on rule 5 !!
Skin is waterproof (well, nearly)
-
True Terry, but it's the strong rinds you need to watch out for...mercenaries!
-
Well we will see how many tough guys turn up and ride! On a positive note the forcast now looks a bit dryer
-
Is the ride still on for tomorrow? See if I can borrow a wet suit :o
-
Yeah still on
-
Won't be there, having my hair coloured. Just come back from the Vale all roads flooded "again", road from Pencoed to Pentre M closed flooded. Just looked at the BBC forecast, black cloud with 2 raindrops with sunshine, and on the M4, big signs telling us Bad Weather, just in case you've been asleep. Could be worse.
-
I was watching a video earlier of someone driving between llanharran and Talbot green today. It was a river. In the 10 years I lived in Llantrisant I never saw it flood any more than a puddle across the road. I'm sure you'll get through it but it might slow you down a bit!
-
Rule 5 Tony!
Where the 'rule 5' were you dodgy?
-
Fourteen riders out in total today. One solo rider for the 3 1/2 hour option and thirteen starters for the 3 hour option.
2 DNFs, 8 DQs and four qualifiers
The four 'Reliable' riders were, Mark Pope, Terry Anthony, Tony Mansell and Greg Brett.
Super, fast ride of 2:26:00 for Paul Nicholas!
Conditions for the most part were dry but very windy.
-
An enjoyable ride today and better weather than expected. Thanks to Andy for sacrificing his day's riding to organise things.
-
14 riders is astonishing considering the predicted conditions.
What a mad dedicated lot
-
Thanks for organising Andy. Weather turned out OK for us today, apart from being a bit windy. Goes to show you can't always rely on the weather reports.
-
Thanks Andy,
These RRs don't get any easier and two passages of 'The Alps' from Ewenny to Wick made it even harder! Paul well and truly bossed it, all that preparation is paying off...
-
Tony,I was there, but 5 minutes late, then as usual no preparation as I didn't know the route,so made it up as I went along
It was tough out there, nowhere to hide going solo
Wind hail rain and hard graft=Rule 5 qualification
Same for anyone out this morning
-
Ha! Well done!
-
Thanks for organising this event for us Andy - route proved helpful in a gusty westerly as coastal stretches were wind-assisted and other stretches reasonably sheltered. If today's weather had turned up 24 hours earlier...
-
Yeah thanks Andy! Feeling it today!!
