Title: Winter Chaingang?
Post by: Davey C on August 14, 2013, 11:02:32 AM
Just been thinking as I rode home... these sessions stop in September but my rough winter training plans involve a ride Tuesday night, it would be ideal if these continued and could be used as my Tuesday ride. The less I have to motivate myself on a cold Tuesday evening the better!

Would there be any interest from anyone else?

I would if there was a couple of ORGANIZED groups, I have had a lot of time off the bike and could use these to gain some fitness and shed a few pounds, as long as its not a hammerfest, I can ride round on my own any day of the week!!!

I think the idea would be 'steady' rather than hammerfest.

Beats the hell out of being on the turbo, I'd be interested.

Brilliant - glad to hear there's interest. Let's revisit this in September before the 'Summer' chaingangs stop.

Can't be many of the 'Summer' Chaingangs left now so thought it was a good time to revisit this.

We need to agree an evening. Can we try and reach a consensus here?

I'm available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday.

Tuesday makes sense as it's in the diary.

Had a word with Davey tonight. Mudguards, lights, 20mph. No times posted.  This gives us an opportunity to kick back over the winter and get new riders to join in advance of next year...

Mudguards, lights, 20mph...curry, few beers...roll on winter!

Not really, apart from the curry and beer winter is a particularly depressing thought for those of us that prefer 2 wheels. Still what a great summer we've had  8)

So is the first "winter" chain gang set for the first tuesday in October?

I assume so!

I should say so - we may just squeeze in a couple more summer ones before it gets too dark....

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and hopefully join the club soon  :) this is defiantly something I would be interested in , something to keep me going through the winter.

Tonight is the planned start for the winter chaingangs. I won't be joining you for a few weeks due to work and holiday commitments. The plan should be;

7pm start
mudguards and lights
20mph average so should complete in an hour, not 45 mins !

Enjoy..

I hope to make it this evening, however I've had a complete mental block and forgotten where the meet/start point is (Steven only told me on Sunday).

Could someone remind me please?

Thank You

At the police station end of the industrial estate at 1900. There is a big car park just after the roundabout opposite a office block (?biotech or soemthing like that).
